Abstract
Complexity Leadership Theory has made significant strides toward the understanding leadership in Knowledge-Era as a complex process but it has failed to identified leadership behaviours that impacting leadership effectiveness. This concept paper an attempt to take the first step toward the integration of leadership behavior with complexity leadership theories. First, this paper will define Complexity Leadership Theory (CLT) with its three intertwined leadership roles: administrative, adaptive and enabling leadership (Uhl-Bien, Marion, McKelvey, 2007). Second, this paper will explain how Leadership Capabilities Model (LCM) (Hazy, 2004) can be used to manage leadership tensions to ensure leadership effectiveness. Third, this paper will explain the relationship between CLT and LCM and leadership effectiveness in educational institutions in Malaysia. Finally, this paper will discuss the implications of CLT & LCM on Malaysia's educational institutions operating in Knowledge-Era.
