Abstract
This book is written in view of various challenges that affect education system
around the world as a whole and Malaysia specifically is not spared from
that. The present pedagogical methods were scrutinized through learning
walks and the questioning techniques in the test paper and in the classroom
during teaching and learning were reviewed as well. To suit the needs and
meeting the demands of our new generation Y students and to weather
the challenges ahead, some suggestions in terms of pedagogy, curriculum
and evaluation were put forth. In order to promote soft skills, the skills
most needed in the 21st century and interactive and exploratory learning,
examples of case studies from various countries and in multiple contexts
were also revealed. Conclusively, in preparing schools for the future there
are pertinent thrusts need to be considered in uplifting student’s learning.
They are quality teachers, school leadership and professional development,
school quality, collaboration and networking with the community and
visionary policy makers. Rethinking and revitalizing these elements are
crucial in taking the leap to become a developed nation and in shaping the
future of our education system.
