This qualitative study was conducted\r\nto identify instructional leadership practices among the headmaster in selected\r\nHigh Performing Schools around Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur. This\r\nstudy used the interview method for data collection. Participants for the\r\ninterviews were six headmasters of the high performing primary school who have\r\n5 to 20 years of experiences in the field of education. The results show\r\nheadmasters in High Performing Schools in the Federal Territory of Kuala\r\nLumpur practicing the five dimensions of instructional leadership in improving\r\nschool climate, which are protect instructional time, provide incentives to\r\nstudents, provide incentives to teachers, promote professional development and\r\nmaintain high visibility at school. The results also indicate that the instructional\r\nleadership practices of the headmaster in High Performing Schools focusing on\r\nthe professional development to ensure teachers’ instructional competency is at\r\nthe high level. Consequently, teacher professional development program should\r\nbe emphasized in a leadership training program for school leaders to increase\r\ntheir capacity as effective instructional leaders by assisting teachers to improve\r\nteaching and learning activities in schools."^^<http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema#string> .
