This concept paper an attempt to take the first step toward the integration of leadership behavior with complexity leadership theories. First, this paper will define Complexity Leadership Theory (CLT) with its three intertwined leadership roles: administrative, adaptive and enabling leadership (Uhl-Bien, Marion, McKelvey, 2007). Second, this paper will explain how Leadership Capabilities Model (LCM) (Hazy, 2004) can be used to manage leadership tensions to ensure leadership effectiveness. Third, this paper will explain the relationship between CLT and LCM and leadership effectiveness in educational institutions in Malaysia. Finally, this paper will discuss the implications of CLT & LCM on Malaysia's educational institutions operating in Knowledge-Era.
