"The Malaysia Education Blueprint (2013-2015) is a transformational plan with both short\r\nand long term aims. Several initiatives have been launched in order to achieve the objectives\r\nof this plan. One of the initiatives is the Fellow Kanan programme. They have been entrusted\r\nto realise the 5th wave which states that a high performing leader must be placed as the leader\r\nin each school throughout the country. The six Fellow Kanan entrusted with the success of\r\nthis programme are all former Principals of selected Fully Residential Schools.\r\nIn the initial stage, the Fellow Kanan used various approaches in harmony with their\r\nexperiences as former principals. This was not a problem as they understood the current\r\ncontext of the 20 pioneer schools selected and were able to give relevant coaching and\r\nmentoring.\r\nAfter several discussions and collection of information from the schools visited, the Fellow\r\nKanan designed a more comprehensive framework that was used as a guide for future visits.\r\nThis structured framework is now used with confi dence to achieve the stated objectives.\r\nThree main management dimensions that are emphasized in this framework are:\r\n• The School Leaders and Leadership\r\n• Capacity Building\r\n• High Culture\r\nThese three dimensions have been identifi ed as the basis for school management. With good\r\ngovernance and precise operations, they can ensure excellence in the schools concerned.\r\nAfter several school visits, the Fellow Kanan applied the coaching and mentoring models.\r\nThis was found to be more on a professional footing. Toolkits designed by the Fellow Kanan\r\nwere used in this programme. The Principals were receptive to the professional inputs and\r\nproposals provided. Although in its infancy, the schools received this help willingly. The\r\npioneer schools received the eff ects and advantages as hoped:\r\nThis book documents the eff orts and approaches that were used by the Fellow Kanan\r\nin conducting the Coaching and Mentoring sessions with the school leaders of the Fully\r\nResidential Schools. It was to be used as a guidebook for all lecturers, Fellow Kanan, MoE\r\noffi cers and educationists.\r\nThis book contains policies, procedures, regulations and guides related to this programme\r\nfor those intending to be future Fellow Kanan or IAB lecturers who may be involved as the\r\nsecretariat of this programme. Besides this, the guidebook also contains theories, models,\r\nconcepts, framework and instruments as well as tools that can be used in the coaching and\r\nmentoring processes."^^ . "2015" . . .
