Abstract

Systematic and effective classroom management is one of the important components to improve the performance of student excellence in education in Malaysia. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the influence of teacher commitment and headmaster supervision on classroom management in Tenom District Primary School, Sabah. The simple random sampling technique was applied to 280 teachers as respondents from 46 primary schools in Tenom District. The quantitative study of this survey was conducted through data collection using a set of questionnaires. Data analysis using Statistical Package for Social Sciece (SPSS) Version 21. Descriptive analysis involvesfrequency, percentage, mean and standard to obtain differences in demographic factors of respondents while inferential statistics used are t-Test and ANOVA to see the differences. In addition, Correlation and Regression Tests were also used and found thatthere was a moderately strong influence between teacher commitment and headmaster supervision on classroom management in rural areas in Tenom, Sabah. This study clearly shows that the result of conducive classroom management is influenced by the commitment of teachers and the supervision of headmasters as well as can have a great impact on the world of education in Malaysia. In response, the researchers submitted recommendations for attention by stakeholders.
